Terms
Play God on Earth, by Clouthier Simulation Labs (a sole proprietorship), Petawawa, Ontario, Canada. Last updated 6 November 2026.
The game
Play God on Earth is a game. Its history is made up: nations, leaders, wars, disasters and quotes are fiction, even when they use real place names. Nothing in it is a statement about real people, real countries or real events.
Accounts
Playing never needs an account. Signing in (with Google or a link by email) is for keeping your profile, worlds and purchases on every device. You must be 13 or older to sign in; signing in confirms that you are, and that you accept these terms and the privacy policy. Keep your email account safe: whoever controls it controls your Play God account.
Earth, Live and fair play
Earth, Live is one Earth shared by everyone. Your acts there are public: other players see what you did, with your country, and Patrons are shown by name. Each god gets a limited number of acts an hour. Do not use bots, scripts or tricks to get more acts, to flood the world, or to break the game for others; we may remove such acts and block the accounts or devices behind them. Names you give nations are filtered, and we may remove any that are hateful, sexual, or name a private person.
What you make
You keep the rights to the names and words you write. By sharing a world, or acting on Earth, Live, you let us store it, show it to anyone with the link and in the game (for example a "world of the day" or the weekly front page), and use it to promote the game. Do not share anyone's private information.
The Heavenly Gift Shop
- What we sell is God's Edition, a one-time purchase for the life of the game: two extra starting ages, meteor styles and Patron status (a gold seal). It never gives extra acts, wins, or any advantage in a world's history.
- Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay. Payment is handled by PayPal (by PayPal account or card); we never see your card details. Patron days are a one-time purchase: nothing renews or charges you again unless you buy it again.
- What you buy is added to your account at once and stays with your account. It is a licence to use it in the game: it has no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred.
- Refunds: if something did not work or you changed your mind, write to us within 14 days of the purchase and we will refund it. Your rights under consumer law where you live are not affected.
- If we ever close the game or remove an item, we will give notice in the game first, and refund any Patron days bought in the last 30 days that you could not use.
Research and data
We may study, and license to research partners, anonymous records of how worlds unfold, as described in the privacy policy. These never identify you.
Credits and licences
Historical borders: historical-basemaps by Andre Ourednik (github.com/aourednik/historical-basemaps), GPLv3; the border files derived from it, and the tool that makes them, are published under the same licence at github.com/KyleClouthier/playgod-earth-borders. Map data: Natural Earth (public domain). Name filter word lists: List of Dirty, Naughty, Obscene and Otherwise Bad Words (CC BY 4.0). Flags: flag-icons (MIT). Music: original tracks made for SECOND STRIKE and Play God on Earth.
Ending an account
You can stop playing at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the privacy policy). We may close an account that breaks these terms; if it holds unused Patron days, we will refund them unless the account was closed for cheating or abuse.
Changes
We may update these terms as the game grows. The date at the top changes when we do, and big changes are announced in the game. Playing after a change means you accept the new terms.
No warranty
The game is provided as it is, without warranty: worlds may change, servers may be down, and Earth, Live resets every week. To the extent the law allows, Clouthier Simulation Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Questions, refunds and anything else: kyle@simgen.dev.
