Privacy policy

Play God on Earth, by Clouthier Simulation Labs (a sole proprietorship), Petawawa, Ontario, Canada. Last updated 5 November 2026.

Short version: you can play without telling us anything. We count how the game is used without knowing who you are. If you sign in, we keep a small profile so your record and purchases follow you. We never sell your personal information.

Playing without an account

The game keeps a random id in your browser so it can count visits and what is used (for example "a meteor was dropped", "Settings opened", "the language is Spanish", your rough region from your time zone). These counts never include your name or email. The server does not store your IP address; it is held in memory for a short time only to stop abuse. Your settings, your progress toward a title and the tutorial's state are kept in your browser.

We also use Google Analytics to count visits, pages and where visitors come from. It sets Google's analytics cookies to tell new visits from returning ones. Either way Google receives the page you open, your browser and your rough location, as it does for any website that uses it, and no advertising cookies are used. Turning tracking off in Settings turns this off too. Google's own policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Earth, Live

When you act on the shared Earth, the act is stored with the time and your country (worked out from your browser's language settings, never your address). Your browser's random id is held only in the server's memory, to count your acts an hour. Other players see the act and the country ("a god from Brazil"). If you are a Patron, they also see your god name. Each Earth's record is kept so its history can be replayed.

Worlds you share

When you press a share button, the world (its seed, start year, the acts you made, and any names you gave nations) and its picture are stored so the link works. Anyone with the link can open it. Names that fail our word filter are never shown in link previews.

Describe a world

The words you type into Describe are sent to DeepSeek (a third-party AI service) to turn them into a plan for the game. Do not type personal information there.

Accounts and your profile

If you sign in (Google or a link by email, through Google Firebase), we keep your account id, email address and display name, and your profile: the god name you choose, your country, your record (acts, worlds, prophecies, wonders), the worlds you shared, the meteor style you picked, what you own and how long you are a Patron. You must be 13 or older to sign in.

Purchases

Payments go through PayPal, by PayPal account or card. We never see or store card numbers. For each purchase we keep the PayPal order and payment ids, the item, the amount and the time, linked to your account, so it stays yours and so refunds work. PayPal's policy covers what it does with your payment details.

Who helps us run the game

Google (Firebase sign-in, the Firestore database, Cloud Run servers, Cloud Storage and Analytics; data is stored in the United States), PayPal (payments) and DeepSeek (Describe only). They process data for us only to provide their service.

Research and data licensing

We may study, and license to research partners, anonymous records of how worlds unfold (the acts and the history they make). These never include your email, name, account id or anything that identifies you.

How long we keep it

Usage counts: up to 2 years. Shared worlds and Earth, Live records: as long as the game runs, so links keep working. Your account and profile: until you delete them. Purchase records: as long as the law requires for business records (in Canada, 6 years), even after an account is deleted.

Your choices and rights

You can turn tracking off in Settings at any time. You can ask to see, correct or delete your account and profile, and we will do it within 30 days; deleting it removes your profile and owned items (purchase records stay as required by law). Depending on where you live (for example Canada's PIPEDA, the EU's GDPR, or California's CCPA) you may have further rights; write to us and we will help. We do not sell personal information and do not show personalised ads.

Children

Anyone can play without an account. Accounts are for people 13 and older; if we learn an account belongs to a younger child, we delete it.

Ads

We use Google AdSense to show a small number of ads, mostly ones you choose to watch for a reward in the game (for example more acts). Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies to serve ads on this site, and its partners may serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. We ask Google for non-personalised ads only. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU and UK), we ask for your consent before any ad is shown. How Google uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Changes and contact

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes, and big changes are announced in the game. Questions, access or deletion requests: kyle@simgen.dev.
